For additional information on these roof top units, a Trane RTU Installation Manual is available here.

Additional information and product literature is available from the Trane website. The website may offer additional information above and beyond the Trane 13 or 16 SEER RTU model number decoding information provided in this blog. Higher efficiency furnaces within these RTUs have higher AFUE ratings.

Trane RTU Serial Number Can Reveal Year of Manufacture beyond Trane 13 or 16 SEER RTU Model Number Decoding

Beyond Trane 13 or 16 SEER RTU model number decoding information, there may be a need to determine the year of manufacture of various HVAC equipment. There is a useful website for obtaining this serial number information found at the Building Intelligence Center website athttp://www.building-center.org and this site does not require any logon to access the site. Just select the type of HVAC equipment of interest and then find the equipment brand which is listed by alphabetic order of the the first letter in the brand name. Select the desired brand of equipment from the drop down menu. Then the variety of serial number formats used by the particular brand are shown. The site shows how to decode the serial number to determine the year the equipment was manufactured.
